The Mirotvorci Association Marked the International Day of Peacemakers in the City of Peace – Biograd na Moru

On the occasion of the International Day of Peacemakers, the Mirotvorci Association, Mladost Primary School Osijek, and Biograd Primary School marked this significant day in Biograd na Moru, a city that proudly bears the name City of Peace. Through the educational program “Little Peacemakers – Peace Begins in Our Minds”, children and youth sent a strong message about the importance of tolerance, non-violence, community, and mutual respect.

The program was held at Biograd Primary School and gathered students from Mladost Primary School in Osijek and Biograd Primary School. Through creative and educational workshops, participants developed an awareness of the values of peace, cooperation, and responsibility towards the community, confirming that the youngest among us can indeed be agents of positive social change.

A special part of the program was a workshop inspired by the symbol of Iris Croatica, a flower of peace and connection, led by students under the mentorship of teacher Marta Gubina. Through collaborative work and creativity, the children demonstrated how peace begins with understanding, accepting differences, and open dialogue.

The commemoration was attended by representatives of the local community and the educational system, who supported the promotion of a culture of peace among children and youth with their presence. The importance of continuous work on education for peace, empathy, and non-violent conflict resolution was emphasized, especially at a time when solidarity and mutual understanding are more crucial than ever.

The project “Little Peacemakers – Great People” is one of the Mirotvorci Association’s programs aimed at developing a culture of peace, tolerance, and humanity among children and youth. Through numerous activities, workshops, and educational sessions, the project encourages the development of positive values that contribute to building a safer society.

We thank all students, teachers, partners, and friends of the project who contributed to the commemoration of the International Day of Peacemakers through their participation and support. Together, we continue to build a society where peace is not just a wish, but a way of life.

Peace begins in our minds, and it is preserved by our actions.
