Marta Gubina

Marta Gubina, M.Ed. primary education educ.

She was born on June 8, 1985 in Osijek. She completed her primary and secondary
education in her hometown, where she attended the Language Grammar School. She then
enrolled at the Faculty of Education, beginning her
professional journey in the field of early childhood and primary education.
She is employed as a primary school teacher in Osijek. In her
daily work, she focuses on the holistic development of students—academic, social, and
emotional—with an emphasis on fostering responsibility, mutual respect, and
independence in learning. She shapes her teaching through collaborative learning, experiential activities, and
promoting a positive classroom climate.

As part of the full-day school program, she leads the extracurricular B1 activity Little Peacemakers. The program is
focused on developing social and communication skills, non-violent conflict resolution,
empathy and acceptance of diversity. Through workshops, role-playing, and project activities, students
learn to recognize their own emotions, express their views constructively, and take
responsibility for their actions. Special attention is given to peer mediation among
peers and creating a safe and supportive school environment.

She has many years of experience in humanitarian and peacebuilding work. She has participated in
numerous campaigns and projects within the Peacemakers association (formerly Auxilium) and related initiatives, where she actively
promotes solidarity, volunteering, and social responsibility. She brings these experiences into her work with
students, encouraging them toward active citizenship, helping others, and understanding the
importance of community.

In her work, she emphasizes peace education as an everyday practice, not an isolated topic—
through dialogue, collaborative rule-making, reflection after conflicts, and involving
students in decision-making. She believes that positive social change is built from
the earliest age by developing a culture of dialogue, respect, and cooperation.
In her personal life, she is dedicated to her family and continuous professional development, and she is open to
collaborations and projects that contribute to a higher-quality and more humane educational environment.
